Rich in variety, Spain has a lively and cosmopolitan mix of cultures. From the year-round sunshine of the Canary Islands, to the glamour of the Costa del Sol, or the fascinating Andalucian culture, Spain has something for everyone.
Andalucia Heart of the Moorish empire in Spain, Andalucia is justly famed not only for its wonderful beach resorts including Estepona and Marbella, on the Costa del Sol but also for its enchantingly magical cities of Seville, Granada and Cordoba. Amongst wildly beautiful landscapes of mountains, rolling hills and plains, are found traditional white towns, sherry wineries and ranches for rearing the famous Andalucian horses.
BALEARIC ISLANDS Mallorca, largest of the Balearic Islands, is a beautiful land with a fascinating past. Recaptured from the Moors in the 13th century, there is much for lovers of history to see: Roman, Phoenician and Carthaginian remains, a former Spanish royal palace and spectacular works by Gaudi. Alongside the renowned beaches and vibrant nightlife is the historic capital, Palma, and beautiful landscapes of limestone cliffs and quaint hill towns.
CANARY ISLANDS Closer to Africa than Europe, the volcanic Canary Islands lie 70 miles off the coast of southern Morocco, which assures them a glorious year-round climate and makes them the perfect destination for an infusion of winter warmth. Tenerife’s main appeal lies in its beautifully preserved colonial towns, lavish vegetation and stunning mountains. Despite its popularity, Lanzarote remains largely unspoilt with a number of fine beaches. Gran Canaria boasts a wealth of natural resources with 236 kilometres of coast and snowcapped mountains, as well as an array of superb leisure and sporting facilities throughout the island. Fuerteventura, closest of the islands to Africa is home to vast sand dunes and miles of sandy beaches and offers superb opportunities for surfing, windsurfing and diving. |
